Kedonganan Fish Market is referred to locally as ‘Pasar Ikan Tradisional Kedonganan’ and often inaccurately as ‘Jimbaran Fish Market’. Kedonganan Fish Market is a traditional wet market that mostly sells fresh sea catch from the South Bali area. This market is about 3.6 meters from North Jimbaran beach. Kedonganan Fish Market is the largest seafood market on the island of Bali, where you will find almost all types of saltwater catches, from red snapper, grouper, shark, squid, and clams to the rare “mahi-mahi” fish. The right time to visit is at dawn before sunrise.
You can spot and buy a variety of fresh seafood. In the south of the market and port when the ships dock, there is a row of houses of Kedonganan Village, where they open some seafood restaurants, serving fresh local ingredients that allow for cheap seafood dining compared to Jimbaran or Kedonganan’s own cluster of upmarket beachfront dining spots. You can enjoy the seafood meals while embracing the sunset and the sea breeze. If you’re in for a quick seafood treat at the market, you can have your fish cleaned and grilled right on the spot for a small fee.
